..and Cataclysm’s release….

…and separating my shoulder the day before the release so that I was only able to play and type this week…

I haven’t had much time to play Inotia 2. I admit, I became disheartened in October when I read that Com2Us was releasing an Inotia 3, and I was/am still less than halfway through my guide. Reflecting back on what I’ve done these last few years, I’ve felt incredibly misaligned with what I want to be doing. With the husband Gnome’s help, and now with our friend Puppettron in house and fully on board, I think I’ll be able to accomplish the writing I want to get done as well as finishing this guide. The guide will be a secondary priority to the fiction I plan on posting, and the planned writing projects we have for Side Kick Comics Online, so still expect a slow but steady pace. I’m hoping to do roughly 5 levels a week.

The funeral was on a bright and sunny day. I think she enjoyed it and was happy to see all the family together.

When I took my current position, I didn’t think that the early morning hours would bother me that much. I mean, I get up at 3 am normally just to clean house. Well. I USED to. Now I have to go to work. But the hours have taken their toll on me. None of my friends are early morning people. At best, they are so-late-at-night-that-it-may-as-well-be-tomorrow people, including my husband. So in order to even see them, I take naps in the afternoon, say hi around dinnertime, and go back to bed so the real sleeping can happen.

This leaves little time for writing. Heck, I hadn’t read a real physical book in nearly a year before I picked up Diane Duane’s “Wizard from Mars,” and between then and now, (reading Robert Asprin’s Myth series again) I’ve only had comic books read on a pick up and set down and never see again basis.

I’ll have real weekends again. I’ve enjoyed the Tuesday to Saturday style, but it leaves much to be desired when trying to arrange socail activities. “Sorry Frank, I can’t do that. You’ll be getting up about the time I go to work Saturday. How about Sunday? Oh yeah, you have to work. No, Will’s got us Saturday night.” (note- falling asleep on Emily’s couch Saturday night during game for the last year has been because of work, not because of game. I stand with that arguement….and David’s couch too….and my couch….and so on)

I’m hoping that this means I’ll get back into the swing of things, get some writing done, get back to a chores and workout schedule, and turn lead into gold. …Printer ink isn’t made of lead is it? Well, octopus ink and various chemical compounds into gold. Gold backed currency of some kind. Wow gold maybe. I’ll even accept Monopoly money. Coupons for Monopoly money.

I’m looking forward to it.

Stuff I’m working on- Response to the latest Dr Who episodes, getting back into WOW, Secret Project, and some Innotia.

Work approved me to take some classes to improve our efficiency. Those start in June. I may have to alternate semesters depending on whether husband gets a job or not. The offer at the end of April fell through due to funding issues on their end.

But hey, I get to run around on Sentinels again.

Not to say our damage is even anything compared to what those twisters did. Our power went out Monday around 5:30pm. I’d just finished uploading all the data I’d collected for my Inotia update. As my husband and I were talking about the wisdom of moving to a more secure location, a guy ran into the center of our apartment complex and started yelling for everyone to get into their homes…as he grabbed his girlfriend and left. I thought it was the cop that lives a few buildings over. So we pick up the cat carrier and literally shove one of the cats in it, get my purse, the other cat and book it to his mom’s house (built in 1950 by his grandfather. By hand. In a good way).

I have asthma and allergies. They have 3 dogs and smoke. I almost go to the ER for not being able to breathe much later in the evening when their AC breaks. Instead I go to my sister’s, completely allergen free (her allergies are worse than mine and she doesn’t have asthma).

Tuesday and today we’ve been told to expect worse storms, but at least here, they’ve failed to deliver. And I think my husband and I can safely eliminate some areas from our house hunt.

I’m trying out a few different looks right now. I liked the black background one, but no one seemed interested in the graphics contest. The pink thing was cute, but I wasn’t expecting it to go through since I was using my iPhone at the time. I like this one. Its clean and orderly…and right now boring sounds pretty good.

My hubby dear suprised me with two games at the end of last week- Harvest Moon: Animal Parade and Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume for the DS, and Saturday was Free Comic Book Day, so my ‘get the secondary team caught up’ goal for Inotia hit low priority.

I did get most of that done yesterday and discovered a few things.

First, if you don’t like a mercenary’s stats, you can’t ‘dismiss’ him to get another one without another Warrior’s Seal.

Second, the cave just outside Perone is an ok spot to farm(and grind for levels) for Warrior’s Seals. The drop rate is very low, but if you’re low level and you need a third wheel, then just stick it out.

I got an odd drop during normal play- a Combination Recipe for “Warriors Seal” which calls for a Warrior’s Seal. I can understand if they mean “Warrior’s Seal for a Warrior” and the recipe modifies what gets “summoned,” but that’s not made clear.

I’ll be working on getting a skill section up as well as a stats section.

For Comics-

Love and Capes had their free issue out on Saturday. The issue keeps up the standard of the series and announces that Thom will be moving to IDW for his press and distribution, which is awesome for him  and probably good for the series.

The Tick is a re-release of the original first issue and still funny all these years later.

Mouse Guard is literary and interesting. I haven’t read the books, so I don’t know where it’s going. The art is cute and nice.

The Green Hornet is an interesting take on FCBD. The book is really just a collection of first pages from all the other Hornet books that will be starting up this year.

The Last Unicorn wasn’t a Free Comic Book Day comic, but husband didn’t add it to our pull file last week because he thought it wasn’t out until June. Luckily, the shop guy was looking out for me and had an issue. Beautiful art that pays homage to the cartoon but is also so much more. The story is still Peter S Beagle and I doubt will hold many surprises other than how its displayed. The comic has a foreword by Mr Beagle, and as a long time fan of his, I enjoyed it.

And the last thing I’m going to talk about is Nomad. She’s still appearing at the back of Captain America, but will also be in a team comic, Young Allies. She remains a realistically handled teenager in a super hero’s tights. Just so long as she doesn’t go the Blue Beetle route, I’ll be happy.
